This midsize Side X Side Ranger 400 is powered by a 4 stroke single cylinder engine with a displacement volume of 455cc which is well capable of generating output power of 29HP. The engine is liquid cooled and the fuel system is carbureted type.  The midsize chassis of Ranger 400 is specially designed for efficient work. Ranger 400 gets the toughest jobs done although it is easier to maneuver, park and store inside barns and sheds. Ranger 400 also fits the trailer or hauls in the bed of many trucks.
The transmission system of the ATV is Automatic PVT (Polaris Variable Transmission) H/L/N/R/P with shaft driven final drive. The Drive system of the ATV is On-Demand True All Wheel Drive (AWD) and 2 Wheel Drive (2WD). The true AWD feature engages all four wheels automatically whenever more forward traction is required and automatically reverts back to 2WD when less force is required. Also when running in 2WD system, there is a VersaTrac Turf mode switch that unlocks the rear differential for easier and tighter turns preventing your lawn from being torn up.
The front suspension of the ATV is MacPherson Strut with 8″ (20.3 cm) travel and the rear suspension is Polaris’s legendary smooth Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) which has 9″ (22.9 cm) travel with five point adjustable preload feature that can be stiffen while carrying heavy loads. The brake system is hydraulic disc brakes on all four wheels. A full 10 inches of ground clearance is another unique feature of this ATV which keeps the rides smooth, clear of obstacles and reduces the high-centering while running on rough terrains.
The wheelbase size of the ATV is 72″ (182.9 cm). The dry weight is 1050 lbs (476 Kg) and the overall size of the vehicle is 108″x56.5″x73″. The fuel tank capacity is 9 gallons (34.1 L). The rear dump box capacity is 500 lb which incorporates gas-assist dumping operation. The rear dump box also has exclusive Lock & Ride cargo system feature which accommodates many hard-working accessories those can go on and off in seconds. With standard or 2″ receiver Ranger 400 has hitch towing rating of about 1250 lb (567 Kg).

Another unique feature is industry leading SPEEDKEY Accessory which includes two different color ignition keys- a black key maximizes engine power and reaches to maximum speed whereas the yellow key limits the top speed to 23 mph.
